Our
Projects
As well as events on The Story Train, we have some on-going projects involving commissioning artists across the region to creatively respond to passenger rail travel through their work. We're beginning this work now so that by 2025 we have a whole creative portfolio of songs, poems, theatre, visual and other art forms that all celebrate the region's advances in rail heritage.
The Memory Keepers Bunk @ The Story Train
The buffet car's guard's room - also known to the staff who use to work it as 'The Bunk" - is now the Memory Keepers Bunk where we invite visitors to share their most memorable train journeys into the telephone. We're creating an archive of everyday stories of passenger travel to inspire future artists who come on board.
Storylines - Artists in Residence on the Bishop Line
Storylines is a commission by Citizen Songwriters to capture the stories of everyday life today along the Northern line that follows the original Stockton & Darlington Railway, from Bishop Auckland to Stockton. Through a series of artists in residence, including poets, songwriters and a theatre producer, this novel project will be launched end of April 2023.
