About the Event
Songs on Trains
Citizen Songwriters are running two songwriting workshops during the Easter Holidays on the Story Train for young people in Weardale.
Wednesday 5th and Wednesday 12th April (12 - 4pm) at Stanhope Station, DL13 2YS
The Story Train is a new community arts space on a first class buffet car at Stanhope Station on the Weardale Railway.
The second workshop follows on from the first, so we highly recommend young people attending both, however you are welcome if you can only attend one.
The workshop experience starts at 12 with a free healthy lunch and an introduction to the afternoon followed by a train ride to Wolsingham and back before the sit down session on the Story Train (2 - 4pm). The workshop is run by Sam Slatcher from Citizen Songwriters, a community songwriter with over 6 years experience of writing songs in communities.
We'll be exploring creative writing, developing lyrics and creating original melodies, inspired by the railway. Young people are welcome to bring an instrument if they play one, but not required. (No prior musical experience needed)
Any questions, feel free to contact Sam Slatcher sam@citizensongwriters.org
